Slingerland Floor Tom Legs

Loading...

Hopefully a simple one for you Slingerland "experts":

Did Slingerland manufacture any floor tom legs and mounts in the early to mid 1960s that featured the STRAIGHT legs with closed bracket mounts and wing nuts?

OR......... did all Slingerland STRAIGHT legs during this time period come with EITHER open bracket mounts and wing nuts OR push button adjustments with closed brackets?

THANKS in advance for your time and consideration!Cool

After 1957 and until 1982 Slingerland had only one style of floor tom mount housing, what you are probably referring to as "closed". The "open" mount that began in 1947 was discontinued in late 1957.

From late 1957 through 1965 Slingerland floor toms had straight legs and pushbuttons. In early 1966 Slingerland switched from pusbuttons to wing nuts, still with straight legs. Angled legs did not appear until the spring of 1968.

REALLY??? Using your serial no. timeline (THANK YOU!!!) I've pegged my black & gold badge WMP Slingerlands as being from the early to mid 60s. However, my floor tom has straight legs and wing nuts. (I'll have to check my serial nos. when I get home from the office tonight.) Are the floor tom legs a sure indicator? Anything else I might check?

It's very common for the push button mounts to be replaced by the wing screw variety by previous owners.
