I'm just going by how many of them I've personally come across over the years. But you're right, more rare than the common blue, red sparkles, probably the wood cortex, but more common than the mod wraps, and probably some of the vista colors like green or different pattern vistas. But over the past 2 years I've bought and resold 2 separate black panther sets, and that means personally they're more common. In fact I have seen more of them than most of the other colors. The thing about this color is it is either enjoyed and "under the radar" in its understated elegance, or it is just considered a very average look. I feel it is beautiful, but some don't really take notice of it. A black panther set sat a couple of years ago in a local pawn shop for about 3-4 months before I bought it, for $350. 22/12/13/16.

It may have been common 40 yrs ago, but you will rarely see any black panther on ebay. I have a saved search on ebay and rarely see one. See if you can find a black panther snare. I bet you cant! LOL

Here's my 10x14" .....

The answer is: Not enough. Cool Dude

The snare drum I got off Ebay about 2-3 years ago. I was the only bidder. I know I'm really lucky to have gotten my hands on one. There is another member here who also owns a 6x15" BP snare, and oddly enough he lives in the same state as me.

I am an owner of a BP 6x15 snare. It is the second one I have seen. I was outbid on ebay for the first one 6 years ago. I saved pics from that auction and it is definitely not the same as the one I eventually bought for $300. At the time, it seemed expensive but 3 ply snares go for nearly twice that now.

My latest project is a BP 9x13 snare. I had acquired an extra tom with one of the kits I bought. The shell was sound structurally, but there was a really ugly repair to the finish where an after market tom mount was brutally grafted. A real butcher job. I cobbled together a "prototype" using spare hardware and parts off other working snares. My next step will be to source correct parts, tweek the snare bed, and then rock out.

I am very curious to see how this turns out. I also have a spare BP 9x13" tom, and it has crossed my mind to one day do a similar conversion. :)

I'm sure Y'all are aware that a 14X10 BP tom is on ebay right now. It would make a nice snare conversion. The only thing would be the holes left by the tom holder. I have a secret recipe to repair a hole in a BP shell. electricit

I have a bare 10x14 bp shell that I am considering having professionally converted to a 6x14. It would require moving the rings, hence involving a professional. Also, my money tree needs a few more leaves.
