Tama 5x14 King-Beat snare drum Last viewed: 10 seconds ago

The original Beast from the East--I assume most everyone here knows about these drums (if not, http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/anniversary/expansion.php?cat_id=54&now=10 ).

These are great drums and this particular one is in really good shape with excellent chrome--no flaking or pitting to shell or lugs--and the original diecast rims. This was formerly a high school snare drum (school's name is engraved on the shell), so it wasn't hauled around and banged up in clubs. It has a replacement tensioner bolt on one of the strainers and someone removed the tone control and original snares (which can be ordered from Puresound), although it sounds great with the Rhythm Tech system that's on there now. I used this for quieter gigs, but you can tune down and really wallop these things if you want--they're s o l i d.

$125 plus actual shipping by the carrier of your choice, probably about $20 since this is a heavy drum.

Great drum, especially for that price...

I don't want to hijack, but I have a couple recordings with one of these from the early 90's. You can PM if you want to hear it.

If I had to guess I'd say '80s. What do I look for to determine that?

Late 70's or early to mid 80's. Tama changed the lugs mid 80's.. and quit offering the King Beat..

A bump before listing it with a certain online auction service.
