Looking at these, what do you think? 5pc.shell kit. You can see one tom has alternating lugs and I'm not sure the snare matches the wrap. Tom bottom hoops missing but looks to have a Hula-Hoop. :p

You're right Mikey777, I would have already but've been contemplating on what It'd cost me to fix it up also with the 3 H's. Hoops, Heads and Hardware! I guess that can always be the thing I can take my time on later.

Thanks

It won't cost that much. Heads would by far be the most. I typically swap out those chrome bass hoops for woodies anyway as the chrome ones usually have a bit of a ring to them. The tom hoops can, and in many cases should, be replaced with new, thicker modern hoops anyway, and you can get them very inexpensively online. As for "authenticity", I could care less when sound is the ultimate final determination as to whether we can make them playable, not authentic. As for hardware, what do you need? If you are talking about hi-hat and other stands, many retailers sold upgrade packages with these as the MIJ stuff was, for the most part, inferior until you get into the early 70s. I have been finding all the stuff I pick up with the MIJ kits is usually Ludwig or W&A stuff. Check here for some of the best prices on the tom hoops and maybe some heads and absolutely top notch customer care and service.

Well, I checked it out and the tom w/the alternating lugs was a Majestic tom with the matching wrap. The floor tom was very weathered, dry rotted and cracked in several places with the lug areas caved in and the re-ring was broken at the bottom with a chunk of the wood stuck to it from the shell. It had the original Lyra head on it. The kit did include the original Lyra snare on the side, which inside, the shell was broken and caved in about 2 inches at the top re-ring down and a large buildup of calcium oxide/lime. The 2 rack toms looked okay but I didn't remove the bass drum head to see its condition. He was throwing in a Ludwig Standard bass drum pedal also. It needed more work than I was willing to put into it. I could have pieced this out but I'm not going there. It may be a good project for someone who's a pro at restoration but it's just not worth it IMO.
