Hi all, I´m new too!

Loading...

I´m a senior member (from Finland) seeking my youth.

I just to gig in the 70´s with my Wooding Smoke Acrylic set with double basses. It´s not very long ago (few years) when I googled the word Wooding and got hardly any infotmation of the kit. I dont´t have the kit anymore and I started to doubt wheather I remembered the name wrong.

Earlier this year I dug up some old photos, which confirmed to me that I had the name right - today I googled and saw actually pictures of Wooding drums here in this forum. I was very delighted.

Since there are so many pictures and stories of the "Big names in industry" I thought I will send some photos of my set.

I still have some hardware left. Snare and hihat stand - very worn. They couldn´t quite take the rock and roll of the 70´s. I ordered a additional bass drum and also almost bought a floor tom with pedal, which I eventually coudn´t afford. Also I used Ludvig snare.

The Acrylic kit served me very well. The shells we´re as new - as you may know, in winter we often have and had under -30°C.

I saw the prochures and other stuff of wooding, but would like receive all kinds of posts regarding Wooding drums or owners

Hello and welcome to the forum!Welcome That's one beautiful drum set, very nice!! I really like the way you set them up. Nice touch IMO. I gathered a few odds and ends from around the net, and I found a bit of info regarding Wooding drums. Here are a couple of links:

Acording to the good 'ol internet, they are part of the Italian company ''Meazzi''. You can visit http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/meazzi.html and http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/meazzi_history.html for a little background on Meazzi.

I hope this can be of any help to you, and good luck finding more info. Thank you for sharing with us your pictures and stories from the past. Cool1 I always enjoy seeing old pictures of beautiful vintage drums from back in the day.

Matti; Cool Pics, just wish they were larger. Wish I had some similar pics from the past performances.

Hey LP-SD, nice work with the links - I remember liking those "crystalline" drums. I also like your put-together Gretsch kit. More than likely, sounds "Great".

Thanks, and yeah they certainly do sound ''Great''! I posted some pics in this thread: http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=7001&highlight=deals&page=4.I didn't post any ''after'' pics, just the ''Before'', but some time I'll post them in the gallery.

Guys, thank´s for to posts!

my memory is recovering - though I´m not sure weather I actually tested or just saw a brochure of the pedal tom tom, it was nice to read about it. Originally my aim was to buy Ludwig clear vistalite set. That was too expensive. When visiting New York those days I saw Fibes clear acrylic set - similar to Billy Cobham´s - back in Finland I came across with Wooding set, which I could afford and bought it right away. I would have wanted both extra bassdrum and the pedal tom tom, but had to do with just the bass. I didn´t know that any other company did such toms.

About the Gretch. When I played single bass I used Gretch`s bass pedal - kind of single arm!? With doubles I uset Ludwig Speed Kings.

What I also really wanted was Gretch Snare, with the unique wire mat system, nice and smooth rolls!!

Present kit:

80´s Grey Yamaha 22" Bass, Wood Snare, two toms.

and messing with Roland + toontrack samples
