Im thinking about picking this up and it seems like these dont pop up as much here as the other MIC cymbals. Do you think between 120-140CAD is ok for it? It doesnt have a hollow black logo on it and looks like its in good shape. Ive always wanted one of these big guys! Are there less of these types of cymbals around than others? Thanks for any help, MbbW

Hey Mbbw,in general the china, swish and pang cymbals have and will always be produced in smaller numbers.I'm a swish guy and on ebay you find a few listed.I think there are more chinas than anything else. Not many swish'es and very few pangs. My swish cymbals run from 14 to 20 inches and the most I've paid is $125 for the 20 incher. What is this MIC,CAD stuff?

Oh neat, thanks for the info. MIC means Made In Canada, as some Zildjians were in the late 70s and the first couple years of the 80s in New Brunswick. By CAD I meant Canadian money. Im thinking the price on this pang is good..i hope i can pick it up. Ive never even heard of a pang cymbal before, only swish and chinas so i was wondering if the seller just called it that haha. Thanks again!

In addition to being a drummer I'm a professional sound engineer. Any good condenser mic will work. I prefer small diaphragm mics to large for cymbals. I use a pair of Audio Technica 4033's those are no longer in production. AT, Shure, Sennheiser, AKG, CADD all have good condenser mic's. You may contact me at tgregorek@gmail.com

Sorry i must have confused you with my MIC talk. I meant M.I.C. for Made in Canada..though microphone types and placement techniques are very useful to getting a good sound..thanks for sharing.

Yup the seller definitely has a pang cymbal there. The edge is flat where a china or swish are turned up.I hope you get it .They add dimention to your sound.A pang cymbal literally goes "pang".I like to play my swish cymbals with a lightly frayed wood tip.You can limit the stick sound and just get a " waahhh" or in your case a 'paaaaaannnnnggggg"They really permeate.Enjoy !!
