Acrolite?

Loading...

Driving home from post office, pass yard sale, snare drum & floor tom on grass, hey, that looks like it may be a Ludwig. U-turn and check. From the education I received on this form, I'd say it's a run of the mill Ludwig Acrolite. Correct? 8-lug, No S/N on badge. 1970?

Photo is as I got it today, no cleanup yet. For $ 5.00 I simply could not leave it lying on the grass...LOL.

Floor tom was a Tama Swingstar, left it behind.

Dang! What a deal, that will look great all cleaned up, and they can't be beat for the best in sound. Why did you leave the floor tom? It's always goodf to have a spare floor tom, and a TAMA would sound good, no matter what kit you set it with.

You got it for $5.00? Awesome! The vintage Acrolite is probably one of the most unique and best-sounding snare drums out there. It's everything a metal snare drum ever needed to be. -Spun, seamless, shell (same as a Supra -except without the chrome skin and two extra lugs)....unique look (gray!)....all Ludwig-designed components -lugs, rims, lug screws, throwoff, snare wires, drumheads -all of it made in America...

...and you got all of that for $5.00? Uh, yeah.....Good catch!Car Driving2 Gotta love it!

One thing I love about my vintage Acrolite is that it's a worry-free drum. I know it's become a cliche phrase when referring to them, by now, but...Acrolites are 'workhorses'. There, I said it! :) You never have to worry about scratching them or putting fingerprints on them. They are tough drums with a sweet voice! Someone would have to really try to break something on an Acrolite before anything would give out!

Looks like yours just needs a little TLC to bring it back up to it's full, natural...umm...beauty(?) HA!

Nice snag, man!

Beautiful! I got my first Acro recently and can't believe how good it sounds. You've got yourself a fine, fine snare drum there. Well done.

I was thinking the same thing...but I'm also thinking we better get up early so we can get there early and beat out the non-drumming types, or we'll continue to see listings on ebay for em that read like "remo wetherking ambassador snare drum - starting bid $150"...haha

Needs new heads, and snares, but for what I have invested in it I'm a happy camper!
