Looks fantastic! I really want to find a MIJ COS with this type of adjustable snare butt. How does it sound?

Looks great! I gotta say, I am liking the 10 even more than the 8 I have. Your snare is model 8256 Professional. It should be a real bear, soundwise. It's like I said, headwise though. This shell is typically ringy as it is COS and this can be controlled. That aside, it is an amazing drum.

Beautiful!!! I wish I had one of your lugs though. I also have a ten lugger Star (around 1972).With a little tuning, it is a crisp, snappy sounding drum!

Hi, Mikey!

Sorry, Mikey. I didn't receive any email. I sure could use the lug though. Another gentleman may have one for me but, an extra would be great! Thanks very much!

I'll send an email in a minute with details.

Sorry it took me so long to reply...

This snare has a definite 'crack' when you hit it. It is a bit ringy, especially with rim shots. But other than the expected ring, it's a killer snare. Besides, I like metal snares to ring. If I don't want ring, I use a wooden snare.

Tunes up very nicely. The micro adjustment on the snares is really nice as well. Honestly, I was amazed that this old MIJ kit sounds as good as it does. I'd gig with this anytime. When I was a kid, I had a Crown kit. It was nowhere near this nice. This kit, IMHO, is just far to cool... The snare makes it even more so.

Now, does it match the range of my Black Beauty or the Rogers Super Ten? No, it doesn't. But it sure isn't to far from the Rogers.

I've got the kit for sale. If this drum had come to me as an orphan, I'd keep it. I just couldn't bring myself to break up the kit, so it goes with it.
