I have had quite a bit of luck over the years.

1970's purple sparkle Slingerland:

22,22,12,13,14,16,18 chrome snare, hardware and full set of zildjians for $400.00.

1958 wfl 20,12,18 matching Buddy Rich snare for $300.00.

1950's wfl porta pak 5x13 for $10 at a yard sale

1937 wfl twin strainer in wmp at an auction for $55.00

There are more undoubtedly but this over a 20 year period of collecting.

Everyone keeps telling me that I got a SCREAMING deal on this kit. It's a 1958 WFL that I just bought for $400. I'm currently in the process of making it museum quality.

My best deal so far was my Gretsch kit, wich is my pride and glory!flower

20'' RB kick, 12'' Drop G Tom, 14'' drop G Tom, plus a brand new pearl snare stand, a no name, (''Japeneric'' as I like to call it) snare drum, 14'' by eight I beleive? And a DW 5000 pedal, also brand new. (thinking about selling the stand and pedal...) The whole thing for 100 bucks. Here are some pics of the drums minus the snare:

They where in bad condition, the kick being stripped and painted black, then stripped again, and the stripper dripped badly through the un masked hardware holes:( then crookedly drilled for a pearl tom mount (yeah wtf, a tom mount as a BD mount post???) and the tom was drilled for the same hardware, THEN fitted with a RIMS mountSoap Box So, I decided to refinish them in cadillac green. What a job to find the color, but we (my father and myself) ended up finding the perfect one, complete with nitrocellulose lacquer (not too easy to get either). I recently added a 13'' tom, also for a great deal.

Another great deal I had was a pair of Luddy keystone timbales shells from ebay, 13'' and 14'' for 25$ BIN.

Yes Tom, it is a good deal. I paid it forward. I have a buddy whose kid has a mismatched drumset no longer as of tonight. I gave them to my buddy and said "Enjoy". He asked what price, I said "Just a thank you".

I'm sure his kid is about in heaven right now....
