Vintage Japanese Timbales

Loading...

I bought these timbales about nine months ago on ebay. The seller didn't know much about them. There are no badges on the drums; the clip mounts just say "Japan" on them. To me, they look like the timbales in the 1967 Star drums catalog. I'm thinking about selling them again since I now have another set of timbales. Any thoughts on their value or other information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mike, I think these are Yamaha. The lugs are not right for Star...they would have had the Sound King lugs.

Those bootleg Gretsch lugs are brand-specific.I just don't know which brand, but the company had to stop making them. They look ALOT like the Ludwig Accent bootleg Gretsch lugs, with the pointy end,but your timbales are much too old for that.O-bop-wherefore art thou?He may know the answer.

Okay, thanks. I haven't been able to find any vintage Yamaha catalogs that show timbales. Did Yamaha make any stencil drums, or were they always made under the Yamaha name?

I have a snare with those 'gretch' lugs made by blackhawk. It was my first snare. I also have one of those timbales I picked up from someone selling some gear.
