Cleaning a silver sparkle wrap

Loading...

Anyone have any ideas on cleaning a 1968 Camco Oaklawn silver sparkle wrap?

I have a gorgeous set I purchased about a year ago that I have been cleaning (see attached "before" pic). The lugs, rims and mounts were easy. Some 0000 steel wool and some chrome polish, and except for a little bit of pitting they look like they could have come out of the die cast yesterday. But now it's on to the wrap.

There is not a huge coat of lacquer over this wrap, but I think there is. So I am a little nervious about damaging it. My former drum teacher suggested Pledge furniture polish because it is mild enough as a cleaner to remove any spots, and leaves the wax behind it as a protective measure.

Do you agree? No? If not, I would love to hear your suggestions.

Thanks for your help,

Klusk66

P.S. I have since found the matching snare. But it doesn't have the original Aristocrat throw. Looking, looking.....

Nice looking kit!

I wonder if that is 40+ year-old Pledge giving you the impression of the "lacquer" thing that is built up on the kit.
