Fake Old K's

Me too. It didn't look like an old K, and the stamp looked something strange.

but I didn't doubt it's a fake. I was thinking it's impossible, so people there might be too. The preconceptions made me dull.

I know very little about Zildjian cymbals, but even to me the cymbal in that photo screams "forgery". I mean, really - ZILOJIAN? Wouldn't Zildjian have had a permanent stamper, as opposed to one with rotating letters like a Dymo tape gun that could accidentally be turned to the wrong spelling?

This kind of reminds me of the "ROLLEX" watch I bought for $7 from a guy in a parking lot once.

I think I may have found one of the fake "NOS" old K's on Boston craigslist. Seller posted an ad about a month ago, and now has posted another one today: http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/msg/2025849634.html

zildjian 22" k ride made in turkey rare cymbal (back bay)i was lucky to score one in turkey but i do need to sell it now. you know what they can be worth.immaculate condition. serious replies only. i can send you exact weight and pics (possibly sound samples)i WILL NOT ship it. this is a COME / TRY / LOVE IT / BUY IT / NO RETURN sale

No pics, seller won't ship. When I asked for a pic of the stamp, the seller sent this:

Granted, it's not a clear shot, but I recognize the lathing from the other thread. Also, note the distance between "K Zildjian & Co" and "Istanbul". I've never seen them apart like that on any New Stamp, have you?

Just found this beautiful 20" K in Istanbul.

This stamp don't say "ISTANBUL" or "Constantinople".

Otherwise looks very much like a real K. Condition is amazing so a lot of room for doubt about originality. Please help ASAP.
