Help Identifying Beverley Kit?

Hello all!

I'm a bit of a newbie here, so hello!

I'm wanting a bit of info on my kit I've had for the last few years. I've got a flickr account with the images here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/36751704@N04/sets/72157624725812795/with/4945479287/

I'm a guitarist who likes playing drums, so you''ll have to excuse my naivety about the kit. All I know is it's a gold covered Beverley kit. The logo looks like the Premier one, and it was distributed by B&H. (Boosey and Hawkes as opposed to Benson and Hedges... or at least I reckon!!!!)

The snare's Premier, and looks a bit newer... although I forgot to take a photo of the logo!

Any experts? :)

Oh and how collectable do we think it is?

It seems that when B&H took over the distribution of Beverley, the drums were upgraded, from their former position in the Premier stable-----where they were Olympic clones. B&H needed something to replace Ajax which was fully the equal of Premier. So, Beverley, made by Premier but sold through B&H distribution was reaching a bigger market ,than being in the background behind Premier. B&H continued to make Ajax until 1970 so this kit with the B&H badge must date from some time after that-----possibly mid-70's. I have a mid-60's Beverley kit which is nothing like this except for the lugs. Your bass drum looks to have a lot of power and throw. nice kit.

Cool!

Cheers Calfskin! Great info... 70s then, not 60s! I did wonder why I'd not seen this particular logo when looking Beverley up on the net. I wonder did Beverley sell that snare with the kit, or is it aftermarket...

Yeah, the bass drum is amazing. Very loud and punchy...

My Beverly drums have a gold round/oval badge that I thought was from the 60's. That badge looks a little later. But the lugs look to be the same.

the snare would have been bought seperately as Beverley had their own range of snare drums. What you have are essentially Premier shells, as these drums where made in Premiers leicester factory for Boosey and Hawkes, but with different(Beverley)hardware

I had a set in this colour that i bought and gigged extensively in the 70's. always sounded great.

Would you be open to extending a discount to forum members that might be interested in your outfit?

Sorry boss, Beverley were never Olympic clones or quality. They were the equal of the regular premiers but had flanged hoops. The boss of premier - not premier itself- bought Beverley from deans and had them made in the premier factory. Then b&h bought Beverley and continued production at premier. When b&h gave up, premier continued the exact same drums as projectors alongside resonators. In the US they were called 8000 series.

I believe deans made the first laminated shells

I should clarify - this info relates to the model shown in the picture. Beverley did do budget drums as well, earlier dates, but by this time they only did top lines.
