Favorite Hi-Hat stand?

Loading...

The Capelle Hi Hat stand.

From France. Bought my first of many in the 1970's. Strong and smooth.

As far as I know they are no longer made. Also sold under Orange and ProMark labels. Note that the stand parts are metric.

I sit high behind my Ludwig kits so I prefer a very tall hi-hat stand. I set mine at maximum height so my left hand has plenty of room to play the snare.

I love my Pearl H-2000 = plenty of adjustment, a killer of a stand.....works smooth & no problems in the three years I've owned it so far.

However, my favorite stand is the one I'm using with my 58 Gretsch kit - a Ludwig/Walberg & Auge stand (Model 1121 = 1950 to 1965) with the WFL footplate....same footplate that's on my Speedking. I rescued it from a box of seized rusty hardware & cymbals that came with these very neglected (but beautiful - now) Gretsch drums. This hihat is smooth and works like a dream......looks pretty cool with the drums too.

I bought a DW HH in 1994 and gave away my original Slingerland Dynamo to an aspiring drummer.

The DW has been great, but I recently acquired another Dynamo and am looking forward to getting reacquainted.

I imagine there is another 1 or 2 more out there SOMEWHERE,but that's about it I would say!

Rare beast!

If you look at some A.Zil ads from the 30's-40's,you will see a pic of one of those dual hi hat stands in the ad.It looks like it was shot by the back door of the factory!.

It shows Buddy,Papa Jo etc hanging out outside.

Yeah I have seen that. Definately a rare beast. Nothing new under the sun. I have searched in vain for a Gretsch Gladstone HH (39 cat) all these many years, but nothing.

Ludwig 1123-1 and the Big Beat 1124...Lightweight, smooth and cheap! You just have to fold the heel plate and strap it for transport because if the pedal rotates the plastic linkage can snap...or you can replace the linkage with a "Spped King" bass pedal metal linkage. I have 14 of them for sale!!!
