Those drums were were/are Stan's (from pro drum) personal kit, and since they were BR's sizes, those were the ones they would supply to him...

And that is EXACTLY what I said... no?! YES!! LOL!! I saw that set used by BR more than a few times, and again, it was the Ludwig mount on a Slingerland set that was so indelibly etched in my brain!.. ( and nicely explained in the vid put up by olddrums by the way )

Yes but you didn't ref "However he did try playing these drums again while recuperating at a Beverly Hills home of a friend." Do you know the skinny on this? Who was the friend, etc. Thanks
Hmmm... are you challenging me here Chet? Have you thrown down the gauntlet??!! LOL!! I tend to focus on Buddy's drums/hardware/endorsements more than the TONS of BR minutiae that is out there... and there is a LOT of that let me tell ya! That said, I just might be able to uncork who the "friend" was with a little sleuthing. Thing is, it's been 23 years since Buddy's passing and the areas tend to be a little "gray" as well as the recollections... not to mention the fact that many that were involved or knew have passed, including in this case BR's longtime friend/manager, Stanley Kay. Now HE is the guy that would know!
