In the 70's,I read that David Bowie paid Aynsley $1,000 per week NOT to play for anyone else! With inflation, thats prolly around $3,000 per week now!
Aynsley said he used to just cruise around LA in his Vette then.Car Driving2

I have to ask have you heard their stuff before Steve Perry was in the group? Completely different sound

No I haven't, thanks, I'll give it a listen, yeah perry is a lot of why I can't stand journey! I had an audition, I on purpose failed because they played some journey tunes!! I didn't handle this audition properly anyway, I was given less than 12 hours notice, to audition for this band, they had no link, or website or any recorded music for me to learn to or listen to! we were oK until Journey and the vocalist wife came up to sing the song. then down hill rapidly! Ok end of the soap here!Mind Blowi

The albums are self-titled, Look Into the Future and Next. Self-Titled and Look Into the Future are the best of the two. You will honestly be shocked its the same band, freaked a few old hippies out with it before HAHA
You got that right.....
When Steve Fairy joined the band, they really went to a different sound.Hmmmm

CBS records ruined them. Didn't sell well enough so they wanted to inject some more pop flair into them. You can hear it a little on Next actually, fading out some of Neil Schon's guitar solos at the end of songs. Forced them to bring in a new singer and it was all down hill from there.
Stupid records companies Soap Box
Given what I hear and love about Steve Smith's jazz stuff (Vital Information and such) and this sloppy mess, it's hard not to vote for Steve. I never did get some of the 70's double-bass drum solo stuff, though. Seemed fledgling, at best, compared to today's double footwork. Maybe an unfair comparison. Anyway, I know Dunbar is way better than this. Just not a great clip, I guess. Yuck!!
^somebody's not happy.
Yep ... if you want to hear double bass work that is integrated into nice solos listen to ginger baker live Cream or Blind Faith.. today's double bass work with few exceptions is all done on one bass drum and sound like $hit.. two bass drums and different sizes really makes a difference
