Mapex Drums

Loading...

I know a guy who claims he has a "Vintage" Mapex kit. I didn't think Mapex started making drums until the late 80s early 90s. I'm probably wrong, but, does anyone know?

I've tried trawling the internet looking but, can't quite find much.

Any help is appreciated.

Late, late 80s...seems to me my brother was playing some in the mid 90s and really liked the tones, but decided on a Slingerland from the 60s...that was my first thought that old drums were more than old drums....

That's kinda what I thought. Late 80s early 90s...

I'll have to go look at them, to see if they are worth what he is asking.

Might just pass though...

If they are in good shape, probably worth that much anyway. The Mapex name didn't come out as an actual brand until the early 1990's. Before that they made Pearl drums under license, or made them for pearl, or something like that....Funny Post

That's what I figured. I'm gonna go and look at them at least.

If I get them I'll post up pics.
