I'm a novice vintage guy and I have also used 0000 steel wool but very lightly and after I use other cleaners including windex and whink.

But I heard not to use it. I can't tell at all any damage it induced on the chrome. Is it possible that will come out later?

If you want to see the damage it has caused, put a new, clean chrome anything next to it and will see immediately the clouding.

I found it at my local Pathmark supermarket.

I just came back from my local Wal-Mart and they had Whink Rust Stain Remover but it was clearanced out with a red tag so it looks like they don't want to carry it any more. I also wanted to get some of the Flitz polish but they didn't carry that. Looks like another trip to Menards!
