where to get vintage-style wrap?

Loading...

Hello there,

I was wondering if anyone happened to know where is a good place to get wrap that would be most authentic to original ludwig sparkle wrap from the 60's.

I'm asking because i have a kit that i'm going to try to keep the original wrap on the two toms but the bass drum needs to be rewrapped.

I would like to get a wrap that would be most similiar to that kind of wrap from that era so that they still look very much alike.

Although i would know that it's not the original wrap. It sure would be nice to at least look like it is.

I'm not sure if this is possible but i figured i'd ask!

Thank you!

The main places for drum wrap are Precision Drum, www.drumbuilder.com, and Jammin' Sam's. Most drum wraps are made by the same manufacturer, but there are subtle differences from one seller to the next. Any of the above sellers will send you free samples so you can compare them with your existing drums. Good luck!

If you are asking if you can find a wrap that has beed "aged" I do not know a source. You will never be able to make them match exactly. You can find wraps that are the same as when your drums were manufactured, but that aged look is next to impossible to emulate.

Something you could try is finding the same wrap yours were, cutting it out and hanging it over a pile of burning tobacco, or rub coffee grounds all over it and let it sit overnight. I have actually contemplated this idea. I know it sounds smartass, but I don't mean it that way. I have tried the coffee grounds on a guitar pickguard with decent results.

I have dealt with Jammin Sam (the actual owner, Sam) and he is kind of....not very friendly, although they do ship quickly and have a lot of stuff. I haven't dealt with any of those other companies.

Same thing. Both are registered sites to the same place. Or www.JamminSams.com or www.precisiondrum.com any of these can get you what you seek.

Sorry about that... the drumbuilder link would not load for me last night, so I thought there was some confusion....

Thanks!
