'60s-70s int'l Premier(s) / Olympics

Loading...

I'm looking for any old orphan mahogany Premier/Olympic drums in international sizes in one or more of the following sizes:

8x12, 14x14 (or 12x14), 12x16 (or 14x16), 14x20 (or 12x20).

Seems there were oodles of them months ago, but now that I want 'em...

Thanks!

Perry

Damn! If it weren't metric, it'd be mine.

I can just put regular-sized hoops on those pre-int shells and American heads will fit, right?

International-size hoops and heads will work together with metric-sized Premiers, supposedly; it's what I've read on several forums. Apparently the rod splay is minimal (and I've had Ludwigs with very noticeable rod splay).

Let me see,On metric size drums say a 12" tom the size is more like 11 1/2" so are the rims.So if you were going to put 12" rims and heads on the drum it will be to big also the t-rods will not line up....So NO to your questions about International heads and rims fitting on metric size drums...Mikey

Here is one thread I read on DFO which discusses it: Question regarding Premier Pre-Int sizing

Apparently, the pre-int'l shells are 11 & 5/8th inches in diameter.

Standard heads are a tight fit on this 12 x 8 tom (tight on the tension rods) with the die cast rims. I have done OK by filing divots with a round file into the aluminum rim of the heads to add a little clearance for the t-rods.
