Tama Artstar Cordia series... $$$

I have a Tama Artstar Cordia set from 1982... I've always wondered how much it's really worth? And does anyone think it would be worth selling this kit to buy Tama's new Warlord Steel or Bubinga sets??

check it out here!

How about just posting some pix of the kit? That would be a little easier on us old guys...see?

If the kit is in good condition, no. You see, we can't see the kit there as it is myspace. We like to see the kit sitting quietly. It is easier for us to find the flaws and point fingers...make funny noises and phart....

OK, those are nice drums. And would I sell them? No, not if I could afford to keep them. You are going to love the metal Warlords, especially for thrash/death/whatever metal. They are loud and very articulate drums, and will serve you well, but they will not be perfect for every sitch. I would keep the Arts because you like won't get what you think they are worth. And they are your first drums, correct? Very nice, but if you have been giggigng them all their life, they are going to have issues that likely will hurt your final value.

That said, what's the lowdown? Sizes, finish, all that jazz?

Yeah, it would be hard to get rid of these. I dont know how much I'd get for them, but its just that I've had them for 13 years now and they've been very good to me.

The sizes are (2) 22 kicks, 10,12,13,14,16,18 toms-deep sizes.

The left kick, and 18" tom were added on this past summer. Found them on ebay. The outside is Cordia wood, and inside is Birch. They sound great live, and in the studio.

I just added on a new snare drum.. the new Tama birch/bubinga 6x14. Very nice drum! It cuts very well and has good tone.

I'm actually going to sell my Tama Starclassic G maple 5.5x14 and get this Limited edition 6x14 steel snare thats being shipped in a few weeks.

I was of the understanding that the inner ply was Cordia wood as well. Is this correct, or am I mistaken? I've got a set at home - I'll have to look into this!

You may be right Rocketman... I'll have to go have a look inside my drums.

Probably made like the new Bubinga/birch snare I just bought, which I highly recomend to anyone. And the best part is, its only $300! for a Tama Starclassic bubinga/birch 6x14... I love the sound. They did the bubinga on the outside and inside.
