Thought I'd share some pics of a "kit" I redid for a friend. Seeing as they aren't really vintage, I thought it more appropriate to post the pics under General topics......These were nothing but a bunch of orphans he collected to put together as a small club/be-bop kit to re-sell in his shop. He passed away a couple of years back and I was visiting the shop today (the family is keeping it up and running, but saturday hours only) and came across this kit again. I had thought that it had been sold a few years ago, but no....there it was.

Anyway, its a bit of a miss-match of a kit, re-wrapped in a non-original Ludwig color. Its actually Blue Onyx, a Rogers and Slingerland color, that I got from Precision drum for him, like I said a few years back. He chose the color and thought it would be perfect. He was right! I wish Ludwig did offer this color as it looks sooooo good! Cool Dude All the toms are 1980's Ludwig 6-ply power tom sizes, the bass is actually a 90's Slingerland that he insisted I fit Ludwig lugs to it to make it match the rest of the kit. Toms are as follows: (all depth x diameter) 9x8, 9x10, and 12x13. The legs on the "floor tom" are Premier. The rack toms are using clip mounts and are on a tom stand. The bass is really a Slingerland Artist in disguise......15x18. Still has ts original t-tods, claws and spurs. He had me remove the original double tom mount and fill the holes. The drum was a factory defect.....originally natural maple, but the outer ply of the drum cracked, delaminated in spots and split. I did some repair to the shell and wrapped it as requested. All the drums sound great!

I've been looking for a kit like this for a while and really didn't want to get a Gretsch catalina jazz, so when I rediscovered this kit in the back room of the shop, I just had to ask how much. Would you believe $400.00?? Deal and a half if you ask me as they are all maple drums and have been fully reconditioned (by me no-less)......and sound as great as I remember them!
