Vintage LP Congas

Loading...

Hello to all!

I have a set of LP Congas (Quinto & Conga) that must be around 20 years old. Anyone has an idea if they are worth anything? Should I keep them or sell them?

I am in for a set of new congas, however, I don't want to make a mistake in selling something that I might feel sorry for later.

Maybe anyone with experience can help!

Thanks

Reto

Classics from Garfield, NJ meaning they could have been made as early as '79-'80. Even though they say Garfield, NJ, just about everything by this time was made offshores in Thailand, Garfield is where the home office was. Excellent drums, the Classics are my favorite of all the LP lines. I've seen Classics run anywhere from $100 to $350 per drum, depending on condition and the market.

Sure thing, and I forgot to mention, as with most vintage gear, the Garfield badges are definitely more sought after by the collector community than the newer LP drums.

Thank you. How do you mean this? Do you suggest just to sell the badges? Sorry to ask

No, I'm sorry if that was confusing, I meant drums with the Garfield, NJ badges are going to be more sought after than the newer LP drums.

Unless you're planning on spending a lot of $ on old Valjes or new custom drums, those LPs should sound fantastic. Especially if the heads are the same age as the drum. Old LP were pretty well made.

I agree, man those old LP heads were awesome! The old bleeched cow "Handpicked" skins were soooo much better than the new water buffalo handpicked.
