Leedy snare from the 20s.....
1920s Leedy snare
Holy crap!! Amazing-looking, almost 90 year old snare. Love those lugs! How does one of those sound?
I'm going to visit this leedy and it's master latter this week and give it a left and a right or is it a right and a left,?? well anyway I'm looking forward to playing this leedy!! Bowing
I had bought a snare in 1982 in a hurry to replace our drummer's snare...it was "lost". All these years later, it sits in the corner of my living room, my kids play on it.
Just got to looking at it and it says "Leedy mfg. Indianapolis, IND., Mulit-Model, it's an eight-lug, 61/2 x 14, and if I remember correctly, it used to be black and had calf skins on it.
Turns out it's got a "Snappy Snares" strainer, I think that's Tama, and the original metal stand...anyone got any ideas on this bird? What year it was made? Value?
Thanks, Sehrscharf

Please start a thread and post some pix of it. When you say "used to be black..." What, exactly, do you mean?

Well I just spent some time with this fine fine leedy snare drum today, Man it sounds good really much better that I expected, spent a little time tweaking it but it fired right up! my ludwig 6 1/2x14" !Universal that I had didn't sound this good! man these leedys would be a go to drum for sure! and they aren't much more than an acrolite, or the same cost and this is a brass shell leedy!
