Ok its FINALLY finished! Excited

I made a snare butt out of some wooden "craft spoons" I got at Jo-Anne's Fabric and Crafts. Cut one down to the size and drilled the appropriate holes for the snare wires....a coat of hunter green paint and DONE! The drum sounds pretty good the the Aquarian american vintage heads I fit to it. I'm sure it would sound so much better with calf heads, but the expense is just rediculous for a drum that, frankly while very beautiful, just isn't worth a whole lot because its a marching drum. Sad how that goes in the vintage drum world. This one's come a long way from where it started from. :D Here's a few more pics with the snares now fitted.....

Thanks again to Kevins for the wire-wound silk snares. Even though they were off of a 14" drum originally, they fit this 15" like a glove. I'm sure if I had gone with a traditional metal snare butt, they wouldn't have fit. I'm glad I went this route instead.

Since completing the drum, I have changed the snare butt design that I fabricated. The "craft spoons" idea just didn't hold up for a long time under tension. Sooo....I went back to the drawing board and fabricated one out of a piece of very thick leather. Problem solved!

BTW, I've decided to part ways with this drum and it is currently listed in the For Sale section of the forum.
