Mix and match...anyone?

Well, as you all may...or may not...remember, last year I did some glitter work that turned out well. I have since ended up with waayyy too many drums, many singles and orphaned toms....then I was invited to a private estate sale kind of thing. The guy had 50ish complete kits, and many more singles. Before anyone salivates and starts screaming "get me this, get me that", ALL of the best stuff, the collectibles and what not went to the first guy invited. There is a considerable amount of drums and a few sets, but mostly basswood stuff. If you want some stuff for practice kits, or want some toms to use for patches etc, they would be cool for this sort of thing. Let me know if you want something, they are going super cheap. All that was left was many MIT kits, and a few MIJ toms and basses, and of course I snagged those. I also acquired "thousands" of lugs (seems like it anyway) and screws and other parts and pieces...Oh my, what a bunch of stuff.

Now, on to my reason for this post. I am currently using one of the drums from last years' glitter experiment as the anchor for a Jungle Kit. It is the blue glitter 16" tom. It is 8 ply mahog. I am adding a mixed lot of shells that should, in theory, compliment each other. The floor tom, is a 90s 13x10 Pearl Export 6 ply, mahog/maple interior and the rack is a 10x8 mid 80s mahog Export shell, maybe 5 ply, rather thin for a later mahog shell. I am using one of three rail mounts and clip-mount plate for the tom, med length legs and Sound King lugs on the 2 toms. There will also be an L-arm mount, and if wanted, an L-arm included...if you really want to pay for another one, since I know you have 7 already...The bass has some really cool looking Pearl lugs that I am leaning toward keeping in defference to the labor of cleaning an additional 16 lugs. I will post some progress pix as we go through. At the end of the build, this kit will be for sale, so begin thinking about the possibility of owning your very own jonnistix custom re-creation. This is alreay shaping up to be a great looking and very neat little kit. The interios will be granitone spray. because they won't match, and I want to even out the tones somewhat.

There are a ton of them at the house where the parts came from. I will let you in on this, probably 20-25 16", however most are basswood. Some are not, many are. Not one 14 in the bunch...

Just to clarify, I did NOT buy them all. I don't have the funds for it at the time. I can help anyone that wants any of the stragglers out, but the bulk of what is left is basswood and whatever else the CB-GP-all thosXX Percussion etc stuff is . Mostly either MIT or MIC is what is left. I think there are like 2 older 16" floor toms left. Maybe 3. Mikey--what are the OC shells from the lower end stuff made of?
