UK Rogers Dynasonic

Hi Does anyone out there know what the UK Rogers Script badges look like? I have seen a few around but all these badges have fallen off! I have an early 60s 7-line version (I also need the internal damper if anyone has one to sell me).

Cheers,

G

The English script badge is horizontal to the shell, not 'diagonal' like the US models, but i believe the very late 50's badges were similar to the English version.

i may be wrong but your drum looks like an early 7 line Dyna from the states because of the positioning of the (2) holes

Hi Ian,

Thanks, that is very interesting, as most people have mentioned that it is a UK version, I think on the strength of the oval non serial Rogers badge without the fixing grommet (UK looking one).

This is confusing, because all of the Rogers script badges I have seen have had 3 fixing holes and not 2 like mine.

The plot thickens!

Hi G, your drum would have looked like this.

The English Logo was always horizontal as Ian says except for on the English Dyna. They used one of the "pirate type" logos from the late 50s which they added an underscore to. This may have been to strengthen the casting of the logo as it was made in very brittle aluminium alloy and chrome plated. This didn't help, they still broke off.

The underscore is usually a little longer like below

The English Dyna shell was made in UK by Ajax of course and they used the same one for the B&B and Beavertail drums.

The 7 lines are far less distinct than on either of the US Dyna shells.

Both the damper and logo are very difficult to find.

This is the damper

A bloke in the UK is taking orders for a production run to laser cut logos in copper and then chrome plate them. He has one of mine to copy.

I also know that there was a guy in the US who had a damper for sale. I will try and mail you both of there contact details.

I'm gonna put this photo in as well just cos I like too .........Walking

VDB, in order to put your name down for one of the logos you need to email the bloke making them. They will be about £12 plus shipping (nothing up front). So, I hope I don't offend anyone by directing you to a thread running on the Vintage section of the Dolbear site at the moment. I would suggest that you email him rather than just add to the thread as it has been there for some time so you need to get his attention.
