Dayton-era Blue Sparkle Rogers Kit

Loading...

I've got an opportunity to purchase a Dayton-era Blue Sparkle Rogers Holiday kit (20/12/16), which includes a matching Rogers Blue Sparkle Powertone snare.

The original wrap's in excellent condition as is the original hardware. There are no modifications to any of the shells nor any extra holes.

I'm trying to determine what would be considered a "fair market price" for this particular kit.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pics to post.

As usual, thanks in advance for your time and your help.

Flat Gray Dayton?

If you get that in excellent condition, bordering COLLECTOR perfection, I believe 1400-1600 will be the price range you are compelled to compete at. Some people will say no, but realistically, they ARE Rogers.

I was gonna say $1200-1250 or so - in this economy and given a common and non-sought after wrap style\color

Ploughman / Jaye:

THANKS to both of you for your input. I appreciate it. The seller is asking somewhat more than what you've stated and he isn't willing to "negotiate" the price.

There better be a reeeeely old jazz drummer that comes with that kit for something way over that price. Heck, I've offered a cat with one of my kits and I didn't go that much over. Maybe this is one of the ellusive NOS kits that turn up from time to time. Or ... maybe the guy is just wanting too much money for the kit. There is a nice blue sparkle online at one of those dealer places that looks ok. Check around. It even had a sound file.

They're in extremely nice condition, both functionally and cosmetically and look great with the matching snare.

They've been with the original owner since purchased. I neglected to answer your original question -- YES, they've got flat gray Dayton shells.

What I like about the Rogers blue sparkle is that it doesn't appear as dark as some of the others I've seen. Perhaps it's just my "one good eye" kickin' in. DOH I'm not sure. He's looking to get 2k for the complete kit.

Original owner? ......

Sentimental attachment always adds a few hundred bucks.

It's probably a simple case of the current owner simply trying to get as much as possible for the kit. Since he's not in any great hurry to sell there's probably no reason for him to reduce his current asking price.

Nice story about "the cat" BTW (lol)!
