Wow. Watching Peter Frampton on Kimmel live tonight really drove home a reality I have a hard time facing....age.
Most of the guys in attendance were very grey....damn, I'm old...I remember the first time I saw him. It was in like 76,77, 78...I grew up in Charleston, SC and lived literally all over town, NoChas, West Ashley, Mt. Pleasant...Hanahan...Isle of Palms and of course, Sullivans Island. Well, there was a beach club, don't ask, been too many years...they had up and comers as well as some big timers that would sneak in occasionally, and he played there in the spring time of that year. I was, of course, just shy of legal, so it would have been 78. Great show...
Now, if anyone else here grew up in Charleston in the 60s and 70s, it was well known that if you had the balls to walk up to the counter, through the door, whatever the sitch, you were served, sold to, or welcomed in no questions asked, no ID, just the way it was. I loved it! We could basically do whatever we wanted, as long as we "acted right"...no trouble and you were golden. Good times were had by all-most all...
