Circus drums
You gonna add this one to you collection???? Kleening
That's pretty interesting stuff. I like the pic (below) of the light. It looks like the reinforcement hoops were stapled on... and on a Monday (the Monday after the Superbowl). Toilet

Wow,
Wonderful history, and some very cool drums.

That one would be great for a Republican convention gig.
I'm still puzzled at looking at factory installed lights. When I simply mounted my light on the shell like that, the bulb (a Philips touted to heavy duty bulb) would blow by the 4th song. I went through several bulbs but they all lasted 15 min or so. Then I mounted the bulb holder on thick rubber washers and the bulb lasted much longer, but still blows from time to time.
When I see bulb holders attached to the shell like the factory did I wouldn't expect them to make it to the first bridge.
Maybe it's because I only use a 25W bulb. I find that higher than that is like having a search light on stage.

We use what is called a rough service bulb at work. Our drop lights were constantly being banged around and the 12v bulbs at about 5 bucks a pop were blowing like crazy. We found those rough service bulbs and they hold up to some abuse.
have a wonderful evening

Mastrosnare. Are you using plastic heads or calfskin??, the plastic heads are able to produce a higher DB level and a lower frequency response than the calf skins heads do, in fact on these 28" bass drums I have, I can't use any of the clamp on mounting arms that I have because the plastic heads volume and frequency response will knock them off or loosen up the clamp almost as fast as I can mount it on the drum!
vintagemore2000 - I'm using a calf batter and plastic reso on my 26" kick. I mean to get a calf reso - it's more about the hassle of re-doing the front head graphics than getting the calf head.
drumhack - yes, the bulbs I'm using aren't the regular crappers they are some sort of "rough duty" model like you mention, supposed to outlast others, and I buy Philips bulbs 'cause I think they have a better chance than some unknown brand.
The socket I'm using is an Ace outdoor floodlight unit and it could be that the problem is in that.
