I have an opportunity to pick up a 66 Gretsch 20/12/14. The thing is ... it was "restored" by a genetically deficient fecal-cephalic. He wrapped it ... badly. He removed the round badges and the stickers! He did not remount the tom mount and floor leg mounts. Instead, he added RIMS to both. Luckily, no holes! The 12 might need a tiny bit of touchup work on the reso edge. The bass is virgin through the wrap. Might be holes from previous mount. Unknown at this time.
I can pick it up for a bit less than 500. Any ideas?
I'm thinking of grabbing it and sending it off directly to Precision for a full workup. The thing is, I don't want to pay 500 and then another handful of hundreds for Precisions work, and end up with a rewrapped kit that I lose money on. If I got this work done, would it end up valued greater than a grand??? That's my question.
