1960 GK Radio King Snare Project

Loading...

I need to sell this snare to fund another project. It is missing a few parts, but what is there is in pretty good shape. It is a 1960 Gene Krupa model BDP 3ply mahogany w/ 3pt strainer. Stamped Apr 28 1960, very clean black/brass Chicago badge.

What it has:

3 ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany shell - no extra holes, decent edges has some minor ply seperation and a nick or 2 here or there, nice snare beds, tight original BDP wrap in good shape, some aging.

COB Sticksaver Rims - nice rims, a few minor scratches here and there, no rust, only the slightest pitting

8 Sound King Lugs - Shiny chrome, polished up nicely, minor pitting, no rust. Mounting hardware is included for all the lugs. 8 tension rods are included, I do not have the rods for the other side.

Snare Butt and Strainer Gate - Strainer side had a nasty patch of rust on one side, I cleaned it up the best I could, but still has that bubbly dull tarnished no chrome look in that spot. The butt side chrome is nice, no rust, it is missing the top half of the clamp for the snare wires.

3 point Throw off - Decent shape, there is some tarnish on the chrome, minor rust spots on the arm. It is missing the slider mechanism that the snare wires connect to.

What it doesn't have:

Snare Wires

Heads

Tone Control

Slider part of 3pt strainer

Top half of butt clamp

1 side of tension rods

mounting hardware for snare parts

Pictures can be seen at http://s711.photobucket.com/albums/ww119/playpercussion/ (The first 28 pictures, there are pics of another BDP slingy snare, it is an Artist model, don't get them confused.)

I'm thinking $150 + S&H. PM me if interested.
