Ludwig Snare Drum Clips - 1920's

Loading...

I'm looking for nickel over brass clips, and all I can get. I just took apart my 1919-1922-ish Ludwig Separate Tension 6-lug snare drum to finally start cleaning it, and discovered about half of the clips are starting to split.

Shoot me a PM if you have some for me.

Thanks.

Ebay. And they are pricey. I have four NOB drums with clips and I gotta tell you, if your drum has straight hoops (no flange), the new ones will pop too. I would put single flange hoops on when replacing the clips....

-64 Ludwig Black Oyster Classic kit 22,13,16
-65 Leedy BDP 22,13,16
-65 Ludwig WMP Clubdate 20,12,14
-66 Ludwig Red sparkle Downbeat
-60's Gretsch RB Green Glass 22,13,16
Lots of cymbals, snares and orphans, old and newish

Wow! Olddrums,I had that experience with a Rogers Classmate. Didn't attribute it to the straight rim though until now.At the time I presumed it was the same soft brass as the infamous b&b lugs.I swapped the rims out to triple flange to make a Luxor out of it. Unfortunatly,my remaining clips are chrome, not nickel.

If you're going to play it, perhaps get the repros for $2.50 apiece and keep the straight hoops. Then you can play it without damaging the originals anymore, and be on the look out for some correct replacements?

Just a thought....

My hoops are single-flanged. I'm not going to play mine -- but I do want it to be playable.
