So, next to your Star bass lugs, these ahould be shorter and fatter. That would make this a Pearl set. And the added tom holder is a Pearl part, not a Star one, as they both copied the swivo stuff as well.

This kit has all the makings of a Pearl kit,which is fine by me.I have a Star kit anyway.I would have put these as a 60,s kit though,not a 70,s.Five ply shells,VERY resonant...The other kit is my Kent orange sprkl,which i believe is actually called Gold glitter.

Now that you have one of these 3 ply bass drums, what do you think of the resonance of it? If you put a hand on top of the shell after you thump it, you can feel something you won't feel on any other drum.

I know what you mean about the resonance.I guess you have to wait about 40 years for wood to mellow in order to get that vibration...New drums sound good also,but you hear more of the heads than the shell itself,but in 40+ years they will have the same mojo as well:D

Yeah...but man, no one else made shells this thin. I mean, mine are almost paper thin, Wayne. They could easily be about a 1/16", or even 3/64" When I say thin, I mean THIN. The first time I laid hands on one of these was when I rescued the kit for Sky, the boy next door. I was certain I was not going to be able to repair them, then my Moms voice trickled through the fog and the years of repair work in her antiques shop started to come into the light.
