They might have been stamped 68. I honestly don't remember. I spoke and discussed and was good with the date at the time. Dang! My myelin sheath is wearing thin on that particular pathway, I guess. I'm sorry for the bad info. I'm just not thinking these eve.

START AGAIN

ok....

So, do you think a very very clean 68 Slingerland Blue Agate Modern Solo (sans snare and stands) would be worth the 800 dollars requested?

Yes.... I think they would fetch 700 to 900 on eBay, and then there would be shipping on top of that.

Well, if your sellin thats a good price, if your buyin I think it might be a tad high. Love the color, not a fan of the two up one down.

That's the exact set I bought in 68 ! (minus the snare). I'd gladly pay 800 for 'em.

I'm pulling the trigger this eve. Just spoke with the rep and we are working out bank transfers. I will be scouting out a 67-69 matching snare from somewhere.

I asked him again about the year. He stated they were 65's. I asked him to check the badge numbers for me and to verify the date stamp. He said the "5" on the 1965 is hard to read. The numbers are just a bit over 100k. I told him that the numbers and hardware put it at about 68. He said that it very well could be an "8". So, 68 it is.

I confirmed the edges and wrap and such. The only issue is the inlay on one hoop is coming up. Very minimal marking on the wrap. Edges are excellent and look factory fresh. NO, they were not recut. Nothing on the kit has been altered.

I blame OldSchool. I saw his kit and flat out fell in love. I am so looking forward to working on this kit. So, OldSchool ... I owe you one. Thank you.

Please let me know if you'd like to sell them, as I would be VERY interested in recapturing my youth.

I played my set from 1968-1990 and sold them in 94 to a teenager just starting out for $500. Those drums were a workhorse! The hardware wasn't great, but the tubs sounded terrific.

So, could I have "first dibs" ?

Yes. Absolutely. I love early kit stories and making those connections.
