Hey, just curious...what do you guys use for snare side heads? I always seem to go for the Remo Ambassador Hazy by default. Ever try the Diplomat or Emperor, or anything else?
Snare side heads
I actually prefer Emperor's snare side! give em a try!!! if your a hard hitter like I am you'll, love them!!
Ludwig. They seat much easier than Remos, which have their ridiculously-deep collar.

So Jeff, are you saying Ludwig heads have a shallower collar than Remo?
I've got a late model Conway Slingy snare and the head ( Remo )
bottoms out on the strainer (crap design I'm sure).I'll have to try a Ludwig
head.

Usually clear Ambys- I don`t like Diplomat or Rennaisance much.
Will try Emperors now that some one says they`re good.

It's the journey not the destination.
I've been using more Ambassadors than anything else recently, but I'll second Snowdog's Ludwig suggestion. I like the responsiveness of their "xtra thin" snare side head.
I'm not a fan of Emperor snare sides. Like v-2000 said, they're decent for hard hitters, but that's just not me.

It might seem odd, but the Remo Marching Ambassador might be an option, too. Same as the regular Ambassador, but with practically no collar at all. Heads don't come any shallower.
you know me

people seem to be big fans of Ludwig heads. I've only had them 'stock' on snares when I bought them. I'm not knocking them by asking but, what's so special about them?
I'm not the biggest fan of their heads in general, but I do like that snare side. Thin and responsive.
