Repair Crack betw rering & shell

Loading...

Hi all,

this is a '65 16" Ludwig silver sparkle w/ crack about eighth of an inch. I can see daylight through it. small gap betw/ re-ring and shell. see pics. small separation betw plies . Is this a glue & clamp process? can't just fill the void with filler as this won't stop damage.Violin Also minor gaps in wrap at both ends from lug to bearing edge.

This appears to be a defect that gets gradually worse. head still fits, but defect can't be "ignored". Ideas??

I would fill in the gap with "RockHard" filler to me removeing the ring and re-glueing it may make the shell go south. As far as the cover i would re-glue that with clamps and a piece of board on the out side of shell to hold the cover down to the shell after latting the glue dry re-move the clamps and board.....Mikey
