Slingerland 10-lug Maple Snare

Loading...

I'm trying to get a ballpark "fair-market value" for the drum you see in the pics that I've posted.

Is it safe to assume that this is one from the 80s or 90s?

Anyone ever play this particular model? If so, what did you think of it?

Does the strainer appear to be original?

THANKS!

Don't know if this helps, but I have a similar ten lug maple snare that has the Zoomatic strainer on it. I'm assuming mine is from the 90's, but am not sure. Mine also has die cast hoops on it, but there's no telling (at least not by me) whether they're original or not. I quite like the sound of mine, but never really got it dialed in. (I bought it to stain and match to an old Slingerland set, but the finish was so perfect I couldn't bring myself to strip it.)

As far as value goes, though...I paid around $125 with shipping a few years ago, and don't know whether that's a good deal or bad.

Gary, that stainer is an aftermarket piece. It is widely available on all of the builder sites. The lugs may be original, but it is suspect if there are no extra holes, unless by some miracle the zoom pattern matches up with that one. I'd say look very closely at it to see if the badge looks original or added. This could very well be a counterfeit, or "repair", though why someone would need or want to take off a good zoom, unless they put it on another drum and decided it is cool to sell a non-original drum without telling.
