Hello too all of you.Find this pic,but I can't put it in time line found on Tama catalog scanes,on Tama site. Some where between '73 and '74 I guess. It is 22,12,14 and17"floor,but I think that is mistake in measuring, and in one foto(too small),is Star logo on double tom holder

To me thats a first set of Royalstar's--non painted inside shell..The lugs are the same as imperialstar--painted inside--and superstar non-painted inside.. set is not a swingstar...Floor tom is a 16" not 17"..if you look at the 12'' tom is it me,,but the lugs on the bottom look off to me..maybe a concert tom at one time made into a double headed tom...Mikey

That's the very beginning of Tama. The wing nuts, the Star-type tom mount, even the staggered lugs on the 12"-looks like the clear Star set that was posted a while ago with Imperialstar lugs-Does it have rerings?

Star/TAMA did stagger the lugs on some smaller toms, usually 10 and 12 because they had to compensate for the mounting screws and washers, and they look cool as well, IMHO. It is the functionality of the design, not the aesthetic that drove the decision to off-set the lugs. Those look almost Beaver-tail-ish in design.

Very nice drum set there, Dule. Are they 3 ply, 5 or 6 ply shells? If 3 ply, they will have re-rings. They would be comparable to the era drums from other companies in thickness for a 3 ply shell, not the really super thin like the older stencil type shells.

As Mikey777 said, that is one of the very first sets under the brand TAMA.

There are still a lot of hardware details which came from STAR: especially

the so called 'Free-o-matic' double tom holder with the stamp 'Star' on it's top side.

But I've never seen those 'staggered' tom lugs on the 12" before.

If I'm right: these are very heavy and thick shells, laquered inside and with maple layers plus the reinforcement rings.

If you look very closely and carefully, you can just see the re-rings in the pix of the pinstripe heads. Those are 3 ply shells, and if they are for sale, buy them! Thise will serve and sound great!
