What do you guys think?

The wrap on the bass drum is real messed up on top. It is missing the bottom hoops on all toms, and the bass drum. Also missing one of the tom mount arms.

Comes with a COB Powertone.

Thanks!

What's to think? I'm not sure what's being asked here. Do you want to know if it's a good value? Well, what are they asking for it? Do you want to know if it's a good kit? Heck yeah! Do you want to know if it's worth restoring? No. Send it to me. Do you want to know if the wrap is pretty? Dunno. You need to add pics. Help a guy out and post some pics.

Sorry. I was in a rush to head out the door. Here are the details:

Dayton Powertone COB

Missing parts stated above. Bass drum wrap is split and missing a chunk. Bass drum hoop that is present is missing some inlay. 12 inch tom is missing the Rogers badge.

Floor tom knobbies are pat pend. Noses on the tom mounts look to be the crack prone fullertons. Includes hi-hat stand, cymbal stand, floor tom legs, snare stand.

Asking $650...would take $550. Should I do it?

Here are some doggy CL pics.

I know it is a decent price, but...it seems like a lot of work as well.

Seems a bit high to me.

Thats what I thought. I was thinking more like the $350 range due to the missing parts and finish issues. I guess the snare is probably worth $150-$200 though...so maybe a little higher than that?

He is gonna throw it up on ebay and if no one takes it then he is gonna part it out. Ouch! Always hurts to hear that.

I have first dibs on the snare and hoops/rods if no one bites on the bay tho.

Wish me luck.

Hurting It's too bad...it's that bass drum wrap condition which SINKS this kit.

The finish is hella cool and really everything else can be worked-around just by buying some replacement parts, be they original Rogers or generic modern parts. But...the wrap is obviously faded over time.....ain't no way you can rewrap that bass drum to have it match the toms whatsoever....

I mean, parting it out...he could probably get $500+ for it all....the stands themselves are worth about $200+ if all Rogers....

And you are right...the snare is worth a good $200.....

Personally, $550 ain't a bad price for the whole thangggggg...

If I took it, then decided the bass drum was too much of a goner, I could always sell the bass and 3 toms and make a good $300-350 back on it eeeeasy (meaning I would have gotten the 3 stands and the snare for around $200-250....Or sell the stands, too, and keep the snare; you would end up having the snare for about $100 !....pretty good deal, really).

I say go for it...if for nothing other than having a very cool ol' Rogers snare in a somewhat rare wrap finish.....

Hmmm....Another bit of craziness here: maybe the bass drum wrap can be saved by splicing in pieces of one of the rack tom wraps...IOW, make it a 3-pc + snare kit and sacrifice one small tom's wrap.....you could sell the tom afterwards for at least $75.....

Yeah....those are good points. Could sack the 12 because of the missing badge. 20/13/16 would be cool if the 13 is double badged. If not could switch the 13 badge to the 12 and have a 20/12/16.

I even offered a trade of a 70's Dyna and some cash but he said no. He wants the cash for taxes. I just can't justify throwing that kind of money at this thing in the condition it is in. A matching bass drum hoop will be tough to find. I considered doing a re-wrap on the whole kit but it sucks to knock out a rarer finish like that on the fact that the bass drum is messed up.

I am gonna hold out and see what happens. Hoping to atleast get the COB Dayton Powertone to go with the super nice Dayton BDP Londoner I just got.

We'll see.

Thanks for the input Jaye!
