Rogers Dynasonic value (oval badge)

Howdy folks -

First, thanks to those who helped me value and sell (especially the member who bought) the Formula 602 I had. This site is a great resource for someone like me, and I appreciate the time you all put in to help answer questions.

Now, on to the goods...

I am looking to sell a Dynasonic snare on behalf of my uncle, the second owner of this piece. An earlier miscommunication between us had me believing it was a 'Big R' model. It is not, as the photos show.

You'll also see the snare has what we believe is the original case, as well as the owner's manual. The only damage to speak of is found on the manual - the back cover is ripped in half. Beyond that, the snare is in great shape and sounds awesome.

So? What are these going for? I'm having a hard time trusting Ebay...

I would say the case and owners manual puts it up above just any old Dyna on Ebay.

I am no expert, but I would pay $500 for it if I was looking for something more than just another Dyna.

Is the serial 55xxx? I believe that's the higher of the Ovals before they went to the big R. Tommyp (Rogers guru extraordinaire) should chime in. I'd put it about $300 and up that case and manual may cause the price to rise a bit...always depends how bad one wants one...price can change. There was one on Ebay that went for 600.00 plus, but it was a 4 digit serial oval, with all the correct era stuff. Nice snare, but I've got 5 already, but I would like to have a 6.5 oval. I'm holding onto a Max Roach Gretsch snare for a trade on that one....;)

Thanks, guys.

I'll be happy to see a few more opinions as well.

I plan on offering it for sale here first when the time comes.

BBK - how's the 602? FYI, it looks like my uncle's Ludwig melodic tom kit is heading my way as well. I may set it up for a while and keep an eye on prices. It's far too big for me, but it will certainly be fun to play again.

alken!... and,

BBK!... how are you my friend! Now, where was I... oh yeah:

With a serial number of #55617... possibly #55817 as it's hard to tell... ( but the small spread won't affect the dating in this case ) ... your COB Dynasonic was manufactured in 1975. Also notice the "C" clip inserts on the Beavertail lugs... ( no internal springs ) ... this feature also pulls this drum in as a 1975. BBK is quite correct!... 1975 was the last year for the oval Dynasonic badge as it all went over to the Big "R" in 1976. Interestingly,

The bottom hoop and snare guard are a year EARLY on your drum as the re-design of the guard didn't happen until 1976... but ... who knows... as there were so many cases of the drum companies "just building drums" with very little concern as to "parts" back in the day.

The drum looks to be in nice condition and would clean/detail up very nicely. I suppose that the Rogers logo soft case "could" increase the value a tad, but no so much I think. Prices/opinions on value are quite subjective, and this is a rather ubiquitous model snare drum, so that said, in today's market you could expect around $300.00. Again, as BBK mentioned, slightly MORE if someone wanted this particular year/case for their collection.

The Big R Fullerton Dynasonic Bottom Hoop is correct for the drum.

You will consistently see them from the mid 40,000 onward.

Wow, guys - thanks so much for the great info.

Based on what you guys are saying, I am leaning towards listing it here for $325, considering the included case and manual might help make this package stand out a bit.

I'll have a chat with my uncle (who'll be getting the cash...) and make sure he's on board with that sum. I'll list it in the FS section here soon after.

In the meantime, any further info or questions would be totally welcome!

Thanks again for all the expertise.
