Looks like a Tama Mastercraft snare from the early 80's...

This is a King Beat snare, and should be a very nice sounding drum! They typically sell from 50-150. And they are from the 60s as a Star, and then later available up through the 70s, and into the early 80s, I think they pretty much disappeared.

I guess it would be the MasterCraft Metal, from the catalog below, but they have been around for years. Is it Bell Brass, or COS?

If it were the KB, it would have a fully parellel strainer.

Sorry Johnny, it is NOT a King Beat. Look at the strainer. It has the rollers. The king beat has a parallel action type of strainer. Look at the link I posted. Randy's does not match mine which is most definitely a King Beat....

Great! Thanks for the heads up. So is the shell metal or aluminum? The catalog page did not say.

It is a great sounding snare...and HEAVY!

It is a one piece seamless chrome over steel.

Yeah, I caught that after I went to check on another detail. Too bad. But they are both badazzz snares. The one he has, the 8056, is still a very nice drum. The only thing I would watch for is the rollers.

Is it common to have kind of short snare with snare strainer with rollers?Or is it just what you want from snare, more sensitivity?Your choice,I mean. Many snares with rollers have oversized snares, longer than 14"

You should have the extended version snare wires. Pearl makes replacement wires for thier free floaters which will work on your snare. Trust me,these drums are much more enjoyable and better sounding when you have the correct pieces. Good luck& enjoy.
