60s Push-button / 70s leg bracket swap

Loading...

I've seen people mention this swap out, and I'm interested in doing the same. Has anyone done this with the addition of taller legs? The 60s straight legs are a bit short for me. I was wondering if newer legs (such as gibraltar, etc.) would work or if there are some 70s legs that would be taller. Thanks guys!

1964 Slingerland Sound King 13/15/22 Ebony Satin Stain (refin.)
1965 Ludwig Downbeat 13/16/20 Turquoise Sparkle (rewrap)
1967 Ludwig Club Date 13/20 w/16" downbeat FT in Blue Oyster Pearl
1979/80 Ludwig Classic 13/14/24 Wine Red
1980 Yamaha Rec. Cust. 12/13/16/22 Cherry Red

...plus an ever-growing snare farm... Luddy/Ayotte/Slinger/Pearl/etc.

slingerland offers longer legs, or take your original leg and compare it to an after market one!

Sounds good. Are there any specific brackets I should look for, or do all 60s/70s brackets have the same spacing?

Why would you not put Slingerland floor tom leg thingys there? That doesn't make sense. They are cheap enough on ebay ... or just ask Mikey! He's the 'go to' drum parts monster. If he don't have it, it was never made.

I meant specific Slingy leg brackets :) Not any generics. If I could find both Slingerland legs/brackets fairly cheap, id jump on it for sure!

I just set this kit up again for the first time in a long while, and I love it! As with most of my drums, I will mainly be using it for recording. It still works w/ the original shorter legs; I just want a little more height out of that floor tom! :)
