I have one or two, a lower-end brand with identical hardware to numerous others such as Paramount and Kent.

That said, I took one apart for my first refinish project, and was surprise to find a very nice 2-ply maple shell underneath. A little cleanup and a little finishing, and it turned out very nice.

OK, I guess that I fell right into that one, Wayne!LoLoLoLo

I was just looking at a 3-piece kit -- bass, rack tom & snare (no floor tom) in original red sparkle pearl.

I noticed that the snare and tom did have wooden reinforcement rings and that the bass drum actually had three rings, with one in the middle of the shell.

I'm assuming that this it would be from the 60s. Correct?

Any idea as to what a kit like this might be worth?

Thanks!

Mouseketeer Drums??? I believe it was Cubby (Carl) O'Brien who played and endorsed them back in the 50's. Nice drums as I recall. Very unusual wraps. Even back then, they pushed the double bass outfit. Very forward thinking company.

That guy's definitely a "babe magnet".LoLoLoLo

Do you think it's him or the kit?

BTW...........it was "MUSK" not "MOUSE" (lol)!

That bass is going to have some deep, resonant tone. It will vibrate and move some air. But if they are like mine, I'd try to get them for as little as possible. They are just another stencil, like all the rest. How much they asking, should be around 75-125 with no ft. That kills it, because the red spark FT is hard to come by. What are the sizes? if a 20-12, you are really gonna have a hard time finding the right floor tom, cause it should be a 14, not a 16. I know where a 14 in red spark is, but he is too high on it for the condition, IMO. So, if they are really nice, let's see all the pertinent stuff, edges and interiors, I'll take a stab at appraising them. I like these thinner shells, they sound good. You need to work them a bit to get them in restored condition, because they are mahogany interior, with a poplar ply usually between the mahogany, and are brittle by now. I sand them and then seal them with lacquer, or a single coat of poly, Zinnser, from Lowes because it is a heavier weight, not the thin, watery Minwax poly. It is too runny, and doesn't do them right. Use the lacquer if you can, it is a naturally resonant coating, as opposed to poly, which is a plastic. and the lacquer will breath.

The set you are asking about i know i have seen photos of it and for the price they are asking yes i would if i was you buy it.That set is a late 60s pearl stencil set.But a made better then the low end sets they made if the set is the same one a friend emailed photos of the bass is a 20" with 8 lugs per a side..The mounted tom i think was a 12" tom with 12 lugs the lugs matched the bass drums.the snare lugs don't match bass and tom was a 8 lug snare but the lugs were used on crown drums so was the stainger along with other names too...Mikey
