Affordable scale for weighing cymbals

Loading...

I should be receiving this scale tomorrow. I did some quick research on some cymbal forums and a lot of people were using the My Weigh 6001. The one I ordered is the new model 7001DX. It also got excellent reviews as a scale to weigh things in the kitchen. I recommend buying the power supply because it is said the batteries don't last long. Total price including shipping was about $48.00

What do you guys use?

Does anyone own the My Weigh 6001 or 7001DX?

That's a good idea but I live in the country and it's a bit of a drive to those places.

I also figuered that I could take it places like music stores or even when meeting a private seller. Asking for cymbal weights at stores like Music Go Round and Guitar Center is like pulling teeth. I don't think they would mind if I brought a scale in.

Received the scale today and I am pleased. It seems durable, looks nice and is easy to use. Within one minute of opening it I was weighing cymbals. No complaints yet.

I have added pictures in my first post (see above). I set a pen on it so you can get an idea of it's size. The cool part was when I turned it on with the pen in place it automatically re-calibrated to -2 grams. So if you set a bowl on top it will adjust for it. I will probably use this thing for weighing deer meat also.

The only issue I see with this scale is if you have bad eyesight. What I mean is, do to the small size and low profile of the scale once you place a large cymbal on it you must peer under the cymbal to see the display. The numbers are well enough pronounced and the backlight is great but for someone with impaired vision it may be difficult. I think in a darker room the numbers would show up even better. I personally didn't have a problem seeing the display in a well lit room but I did have to look at it at the right angle. I like how compact and portable it is and that it will run on batteries.
