What should i do with these Premiers?

Loading...

I got these premiers a few moths ago. I am trying to decide what to do with them. According to another forum member they are APK's in Opalescent Azure from 96-97. The interiors appear to be real wood painted black. The exterior's on the shells look like some sort of press board or masonite? The wrap on the FT and BD is in very bad shape. Im wondering if they are worth re-wrapping. I have heard they were entry level drums, but are far superior to the entry level drums offered today. Are they worth spending $300 on wrap and all the time and effort it takes to do the job?

I would not spend 300 on wrap, however, it might be worth it to do a "jooni finish". Poly and glitter layered up. Theat would run about 20 plus a few hours of time to take all the hardware off, apply a base stain then lay up the poly and glitter. Easy, a little messy, but they would live to serve a higher purpose, you could then donate them to a talented kid, or a school.

I would remove the covering from the ripped up drum(s)and try sanding the surface-finding it hard to believe Premier would make a masonite drum.I'm thinking the surface may have been affected by the pearl installation process, like heating/glueing.Basswood is soft and white/blond colored with very little graining, almost balsa-like.BUT-that surface under the ripped pearl looks like masonite.I hope It's not.

P.S.Seems like there is a good number of these particular drums with this particular problem. This is the third one I've seen-but all this color!

I took all the lugs, the badge, and leg brackets off of the floor tom and the wrap literally fell off the shell. It was only glued where the wrap meets. Sure looks like Masonite to me. And winter is over here in Texas, i dont even need any firewood now :(

I sorta thought premier would be better than your average foreign made drum!

I believe my majestic's are better drums than these, but maybe masonite is the new thing for entry level drums. hell if I know! maybe the badges and hardware are worth something. I guess I could make me some more drum stackers out of the shells. heres a link to my drum stacker invention.

I Like Cardbo-cussion, or maybe post-cussion? Pressed post toasties! Or post meaning after. After a nuclear holocaust! Might as well be playin a drum bucket! I got some drum buckets off of ebay several yrs ago for $25. Maybe if I put a premier badge on them no one would know the difference?

A fine job!You have a future in plastics! And Premier can consider an upgrade. My family and I saw The Lion King in Boston last Saturday, and some street performers at Quincy Market were performing on those buckets. But without the Premier badge.......
