Ludwig 24x16 Bass Drum. What is this worth? Last viewed: 20 seconds ago

Hello I'm selling this bass drum. I bought it years ago and never used it. I can't find one online anywhere so I'm guessing its somewhat rare. I would like a honest answer so I can get what its worth. Ludwig 24x16 bass drum. Quad spurs. From the 80's from what i can tell. Many Thanks Tio

ME: Good luck selling it. I had a three pc classic from 1980, in perfect condition and it took me 4 months, and yours has modular hardware, not classic, so it may take time.

Now, did I miss something...or did honesty have nothing to do with his asking us, THE drum experts in all the world, if we thought anything about his drum? Now, granted, I am not a Ludwig expert, but I know the market for that EXACT drum, in TODAY'S market as I just sold a real set, not a single orphan....

And yes, they are flocking here, asking our opinions, we give it to them, knowing exactly what we are talking about because afterall, THIS IS WHAT WE DO FOR FUN....and then ignore us as if to say, "screw ya'll, you don't know shugar...

And twice I have been the one that made the call...so maybe he will get $500 for it, but somehow, I don't see it.

For what it's worth dude, your bass drum, all by it's little lonesome, is worth MAYBE $100....on a good day.

But I do wish you luck with the sale, and I hope it doesn't take you 4 months....dude...

Yeah, I saw this posting on CL earlier today. $600? Not. BTW, this is a good sounding bass drum, but that modular mount is hideous to me.

And yes, I do agree, the drum sounds great, but it has that stupid looking pyramid stuck on top, and it's...an ORPHAN...and it's still only worth a hunski....

Hey, Thanks guys for the responses. I searched all over the and this seemed to be the best place to get a good answer. I'm in no hurry to sell so I guess i will sit on it for a while and try to get the best price.

Many Thanks

Well then, here's your other alternative. Soap Box With the advent of "orphan" drums also comes the possibility of disassembling and selling drum components and you will get around 170% more for the parts by "cannibalizing" it; yes this is a new term in the drum world but sounds better than "Yeah man, I'm just gonna part that one out."

If you're not in a big hurry, start eBaying these parts, better yet just start watching the auctions for parts that you have and your confidence will get a big boost. you know that rule " the sum of the parts is greater than the whole." This is your mission Tio should you choose to accept it. Your drum is not collectible, :( but PARTS of it are desireable. I bet you'll get a lot more than the paltry $100 it's guessed at.

This is a bad choice.

There is enough of this going on already.

I can't think of less appropriate place to voice the advocation of this practice.

Ok kevins. I agree with you. That was inappropriate and I'll refrain from advocating this practice. Nuff said? :)

I am kind of in the market for such a beast but I would want to wrap it. Does anyone know if Ludwig used the same shells for wrapped and stained drums or if they were different.
