Slingerland 18' Bass Drum Hoops Question

Loading...

Hi People

Just traded in a 12.14.18 late 50's early 60' three piece set

the bass drum is in fair condition but restorable

its all there but the rail consolette

The guy I traded with told me he got this parts back in 1986

He told me the previous owner said these are the original (metal) hoops

Could this be possible?

Metal hoops on an 18" bass drum?

The batter side hoop has a snare side like grooved where a wielded metal part acts as a BD pedal receiver. (looks factory)

Theres no trace of an 18" floor tom conversion

everything looks correct

I'm planning on rewrapping in fresh silver sparkle...

Please Slingy guys here. Your input is much appreciated!!!

I believe Slingerland's "Jet" outfit had hoops like that on an 18 inch bass drum.

The slingerland bass is a "jet" bass the whole set is called "jet"..Yes both hoops on bass drum were metal[like used on 18" floor toms..The back rim you have is right for that drum with the piece of metal on it to hold the bass drum pedal..Oh the "P" stamped inside shell on bass the other drums should have that also stands for "Plastic" finish..Mikey

As stated, it's a Jet bass drum....but when I saw the title of this thread, I started laughing because of something from the movie Spinal Tap...

The vintage drum Guide is a great resource for this type of information. Here is the link to the Slingerland 1964 catalog page and you can then click to enlarge the image and see how a Jet kit was displayed in the catalog! Here you go:
