Hi all first time doing this. have been playing and working on drums a long time have a couple of premier kits one very nice set of resonators from the 80s and a newer cheaper set with double bass apk i think

my question is about slingerland "duco" does the name just refer to the two colors or is there something else unique to that line ?

my first (2) sets were slingerland and now i'm thinking about trying to customize some vintage drums

Welcome,Glad to have you with us, duco color is short for dupont paint company which supplied paint to most of the drum makers of the days, hence duco, but it is a certain type of paint technique. ludwig, wfl, leedy, slingerland, gretsch, rogers they all had them.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Man,you learn something every day!

How can I be over 50 and never knew That the word 'duco' came from the dupont paint co?

(Hmm..... maybe don't answer that.)

Thank you very much. after reading a few more post last night it sounds like that dark blue that I see so much of is very hard to remove.

I offered somone $150. for a 26x14 concert bass, then i saw a 14x7 snare also a slingerland with the same finish and thats what got me going on this I hope it pans out cause the more i think about it the better i like the idea of vintage drums over something new that will be cheap but not inexpensive.

Thanks again
