Parade/Marching Snare as a Floor Tom

Loading...

I'm looking to get a 15" Parade snare to use as a floor tom/snare between my 13" and 16" toms on my 59' Slingerland kit. I wanted to know if anyone else has done this, how they like it, and what they use for legs. I was thinking of getting a RIMS Dynamount cradle, but didn't know if it would interfere with the snare cord or throw-off.

Also, I'd like to see some pix if anyone has any.

Thanks!

PS - shoot me a PM if you run across a 15" Slingerland Parade Snare in Light Blue Pearl ;)

ive done this recently. ive got a set of mid 60's ludwig clubdate galaxy combos. 22/13 with matching snare. until i find the perfect floor tom for the kit, i have found a period correct 12x15 marching snare. i bought it with the intention of stripping it,leggin it,etc. when it arrived,it was pristine and i just couldnt do it. so, i took a newer ludwig snare stand and cut enough out of the downtube to lower the 15. works great, looks cool and sounds killer.

I was going to do the same thing with a Ludwig snare to match my set.Another option would be to use a Pearl 1216 mount which clamps onto the top rim with drum key adjustable screws. Then you could attach it to a cymbal stand using a multi clamp. Not sure it will work with the stick saver rim though, mine has a triple flange rim.

Thanks for the advice, Bobby Cee! I thought about the Pearl mount but I don't think it will fit well sadly.....plus, I don't want to damage the COB rim which is softer than the steel ones. Keep us posted on your progress!

From GG Vintage

That is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks! For some reason I missed it when I did my thread search.

I am glad that it worked out for you. Hopefully I can find mine in the near future so that I can try it out myself.
